Design And Evaluation Of A Grid-In-A-Cloud-Solution

چکیده

In order to meet the demands on information technology (IT) capacities, organizations increasingly transform their existing IT landscape into more flexible, virtualized architectures. Companies being able to utilize high performance computing more efficiently than others possess higher dynamic capabilities and thus increase their business agility. However, operating high performance computing (HPC) environments such as Grids is costly and demanding wherefore Clouds offer interesting alternatives to host a complete Grid environment in a Cloud. In this paper, we investigate how a Gridin-a-Cloud can be realized and how such a system performs compared to a dedicated Grid computing environment. Thus, we provide answers to our central research questions of how a Grid-in-a-Cloud solution can be realized, what are the technical obstacles and for which tasks is an economically meaningful use possible to increase the dynamic capabilities of organizations?
